They died in Valley Mills in 1874 and 1875,
only two months apart. I am trying to find their grave sites,
but have not been successful. This was a long
time ago, perhaps before record keeping. As they had no family in
Texas their may not be a tombstone.
They were not residents of Bosque County.
Originally from North Carolina, they had been Baptist
Missionaries in South America, probably Peru.
Their daughter was Kate Peru Suther. They died in Valley
Mills while returning from South America.
This information is taken from the
book, William Scott and His Descendants. Most
of the Scotts and Suthers were from the area around
Concord, North Carolina.
William Crawford Suther, born Cabarrus County,
North Carolina, Aug 17, 1831,
died Valley Mills, Texas, Feb 10, 1875.
Laura Doneghey Tomson Suther, Born unknown, died Dec 28, 1874, Valley Mills, Texas.
They left two young children, William J. and
Kate Peru Suther. Kate was only 5 or 6 years old.
Family from North Carolina had to come to
Texas to pick them up
and take them back. My great-grandmother is
Kate Peru.
