States Of America. He was born abt.1824 in Walton County, GA, &
died 19 JUL 1883 in Walton County, GA. Martin is buried on the Old
ADCOCK home place on Harmony Church Road, Good Hope, Georgia. Martin
wed Sophronia R. ADCOCK 02 AUG 1848 in Walton Co., GA. Sophronia
applied for a pension from Martin's military service, and received it.
They had a number of children, among them my grandfather, Jesse Jackson
ARMISTEAD, who married Mary Louvenia BROCKWELL. Post Civil

THEDFORD James, and his brother, William Camp, joined
the Confederate Army on September 16, 1861 in Co. G. 35th Regt., Ga. Infantry.
From November 25th thru December 6, 1861, he was in the Petersburg hospital
with rubella. At one time he was listed as a nurse on special duty
in a hospital. At other times he was listed as a teamster and wagoner.
He was listed as wounded and discharged 4-9-1865,
at which time, he returned to his family in Walton County.

2nd Mrs. Martha Jane Leach Black 10-27-1872, 3rd Missouri Peters 11-5-1874.

buried near Pleasant Valley, Ga. Enlisted as a private in Company H, 36th Georgia Infantry,
Confederate States of America (C.S.A.) during the Civil War. His
enlistment was performed by A.P. ROBERTS on 24 Apr1862 in Dalton, GA. He
was shot during the war, carried shrapnel the rest of his life. Was captured
by the Union Army on 4 Jul 1863 during the battle of Vicksburg. Paroled
by Lt Col William P DAVIS, 23rd Regiment, Indiana Volunteer's in City Hospital,
Vicksburg, Ms. Captured a second time near Nashville, TN on 16 Dec 1864
& interned at Military Prison in Louisville, KY; discharge 21 Dec 1864
& sent to Camp Douglas, IL until released Jun 18, 1865 at the end of
the war. Upon release from the Union prison camp in Illinois, he came home
by train after the war. Returned to Georgia by way of the railroad south.
He earned a living by building rock chimneys, selling fruit trees, &selling
silverware. (To find his grave: follow Ga Hwy 11 south
toward Social Circle, turn left on Mt Paron Church Rd, turn right
on Pleasant Valley Rd, the road will sort of split like a "Y" to the left
on 1st Rd, go left, cemetery is just up the road in the trees and briars
behind the Everett house.)

KY on 09 AUG 1864, & then sent to Camp Chase the next day. Afterwards,
he was transferred to City Point, VA for exchange 04 MAR 1865.

1894 in Walton Co., GA. Edmond and Mary had these children: Alice,

& married inWalton Co. Ga. Stephen Thomas entered Co F, 16th
Regt. GA Vol. Infantry of the Army of Northern, VA as a private on 19 July
1861-He was wounded Knoxville, TN 29 Nov 1863. Captured and escaped
four times from Northern imprisonment. Records at Georgia Archives
evidence he was finally paroled Augusta, GA 23 May 1865. He was according
to his military records as well as family history "a rawboned Rebel
full of fight." They show he fought at Malvern Hill, Cramptons
Gap, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Fort Sanders,Wilderness,
Cold Harbor, Cedar Creek and Sailors Creek. Was with Gen. Robert
E. Lees troops at Appomattox but would not surrender. Captured again
and remained in Federal Prison until released after end of War in Augusta
Georgia. Refused to take Loyalty oath. Died 3 Dec 1912 in Walton
Co. GA "still hating Yankees." His grandson Lt. Gen. George Justus
Hearn, Jr. received among his many decorations the Confederate Medal of
Honor based on his grandfather's record of service. The scrivener
of this information Lt. Col. George J. Hearn 111 , Retired is a charter
member of Matthew Talbot Nunnally Sons of Confederate Veterans here in
Walton County entering on the service of his great grandfather Stephen
Thomas Hearn. Stephen Thomas attempted to farm after
the war however could do very little due to his wounds sustained in the
war and had to make ends meet during the week as a carpenter in the Atlanta
Area. Stephen Thomas is buried with his ancestors & many descendants
at the Mount Vernon Christian Church in Walton County, where his father,
mother and relatives were original charter members in 1842

He was a blacksmith and exempt from service due to that occupation.
He and his wife, Jedidah Perkins still had young children at home and had
2 sons already in Confederate Service. He enlisted and died in the
tragic Battle of Bentonville on Nov 22, 1861. It was the only serious
resistance Sherman encountered on his March to the Sea after
the Battle of Atlanta. This ill-fated unit consisted of old men and
young boys.

GA as a private into the Walton Infantry. Later this unit became
Company H, 11th GA Regiment of Infantry. He fell prey to typhoid
fever and was sent to Culpepper, VA hospital in Aug 1861. He died
on 14 Sept 1861. He was married to Rebecca GRIFFIN (daughter of John"Jack"
GRIFFIN and Rachel MOON) on 27 Nov 1844 in Walton Co.

He died 1920 & is buried in Corinth Memorial Gardens.

furlough. There were no later records. He died before 1891
in Cullman Co., AL. He left Walton Co., GA sometime after the death
of his mother in 1881. He was married to Lucretia C. "Lucrecy" "Creasy"
